"LATEST: Congratulations to New Dawners~!! the project was a major success~!!"

We are a group of 22 youths embarking on a youth expedition project to Luang Prabang, Laos from 16 - 31 May 2008. The expedition is jointly organized by the Singapore Buddhist Lodge (SBL) and the NUS Buddhist Society. It aims to fulfill the needs of the students of Muang Kham Primary School. We will be teaching the students basic English, and also engage them in arts and craft sessions after their lessons. In addition, we will be constructing a cement multi-purpose court and pathway to the school.

As of April 2008, we are raising funds to help purchase teaching materials, books, and furniture needed for our project. A part of the funds raised will also go to the filming of a documentary in Laos, and help our participants cover a part of their costs. Please support us by making a purchase at our online boutique Walk-In Felicity. For any queries, please contact us at laoyep08@gmail.com.

新年快乐!

Happy Chinese New Year, this blog was born today!

Please look forward to seeing

  • An additional page of introduction to Laos or the school in particular, as well as some basic facts about the trip.
  • A tagboard
  • A better template

After it's done, I will invite all the other Project New Dawn members to this blog so everyone can start posting =)

What i will need:

  • Photos of Laos/the school (Sir Liang, do you have any?)
  • And i was thinking, perhaps it would be helpful for our P&P team to decide on a few theme colours for the project. For example, orange and green? or black and red? Or any other pair or group of colours which will look nice together.

I think it will be visually more pleasant and memorable if we could have some theme colours for the project. This way, we can standardize the T-shirt, blog template, handbook, banner, and posters, so that everything will fit together and look like they belong to the place =) and over time, we will be able to identify with these theme colours and associate them with our project.

Please let me know what you think of this idea, and if you think it'll work, please also suggest some colours (it would be better to give the exact shade e.g. FFD700 for Gold. you can visit this site for reference! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_colors)

Meanwhile,

wish all an enjoyable chinese new year! =)

Cheers,
Feng Yi
